Blue, white, silver color scheme

If you’re a lover of Jewish tradition and Hanukkah, you’ll know that this holiday’s primary colors are blue, white, and silver. This reflects the Israeli flag and its blue stripes, symbolizing the relationship to the ceremonial prayer shawls called tallitot used in many traditional Jewish events.

When decorating your home for Hanukkah this year, try to stick with the blue, white, and silver color scheme. You can incorporate these colors into your Menorah, candles, dinnerware, banners, and table cloths.

Menorah

Hanukkah would not be the same without the well-known and loved Menorah. The Menorah is a seven-lamp candle holder that is used throughout the holiday. Each night, families gather around the Menorah and light a candle while offering prayers and reading Hebrew scripture.

The Menorah is more than a decorative piece. It represents the time of Moses as well as its later set up in the Temple of Jerusalem.

For your Hanukkah home decor, you should definitely include a Menorah. Prop it up in a central location in your home near a window and surround it with blue and white decorations. You can surround it with flowers, smaller tea lights, silver decorative bulbs, and presents!

Banners

Another great way to decorate for Hanukkah is to use banners around your home. There are several banners to choose from, each showcasing a unique feature of the eight-day holiday.

You may enjoy a banner displaying all of the faces of the dreidel or a banner with large words reading “Happy Hanukkah!”

Be sure that whichever banner you choose follows the blue and white color scheme. Hanging these beautiful banners over entry-ways and in windows is a great way to tie together your Hanukkah decor throughout your home!

Wreath

Many Jewish families have been known to hang blue and white wreaths around their homes. Colorful bulbs, ribbon, and faux colored ferns are commonly used in these wreaths.

What makes this decoration so remarkable is its versatility. Like the banners mentioned above, wreaths can be places throughout any part of your home. You can hang a wreath in your window, on your front door, on the wall, or on inner doors in your home.

It’s not uncommon to see the wreath topped with the Star of David as well, to add a nice touch for the Jewish holiday.

Star of David

The Star of David is a six-pointed star and is an integral symbol in Jewish culture. People often decorate their homes with this symbol throughout Hanukkah.

You can place the star near your Menorah, on your tables, in your windows, and throughout the entirety of your home. It’s also common for people to make their own Star of David using twigs, popsicle sticks, and other small tools around their house.

This is an excellent idea for Hanukkah crafts that can bring the whole family together. It’s a simple activity that people of all ages can enjoy, and it’s always comforting to place your handmade Star of David around your home.

Dreidel

The dreidel is another popular item during the Hanukkah season. The dreidel is a four-sided spinning top that is commonly used in games and festivities during Hanukkah.

While it is a beautiful item to have for games and family time this Hanukkah season, it can also be used as decor when not in use!

Place your dreidels on the centerpiece of your dining room table or near your Menorah. You can also use the dreidel as inspiration for other decorations. Like the dreidel banner mentioned above, you can make hand-drawn dreidel pictures or cut out images of dreidels to hang up around your home.

Set the table

One of the best ways to decorate for Hanukkah this season is to go all out with decorating your table!

This is a great way to get creative and utilize any online inspiration you can find. Get some blue napkins to place alongside your white dishware. Place small metal or handmade Stars of David at each plate. You can also create an elaborate and stunning centerpiece on your table.

A white or blue tablecloth fits wonderfully with the color scheme, and small tea lights and candles can be placed at the center of the table for a soft glow.

Dreidels and silver, blue, or white decorative bulbs can also be used as decoration for the table’s center. The ideas are endless, but essentially, decorating your table for Hanukkah is one of the best ideas to create a holistic and enjoyable space.

Hang up Hebrew scriptures

Another great idea this Hanukkah is to frame and hang your favorite Hebrew scriptures around your home. This is a wonderful way to connect yourself with your culture and feel closer to the true spirit of Hanukkah.

You can place these scriptures at side tables, hang them on the wall, and place them at the dinner table. Leaving a scripture by your bed to read at night or first thing in the morning is also a great idea!

It’s another way to connect with friends and family this season, as well as to add warmth and inviting decorum to your home.
