Tidy up with Marie Kondo’s new Container Store collaboration

Have you ever seen a collaboration and thought, “It’s about time! They were made for each other”? That’s how you’ll feel about the recent partnership between Marie Kondo and The Container Store.

Kondo recently launched an exclusive line of products guaranteed to transform homes from messy and uninspiring to tidy and joyful. There’s something for everyone in these seven collections designed for closets, kitchens, and decorative storage along with specific items to help organize your kid’s rooms and home offices using the KonMari method. During a period where we’re all spending more time at home, getting (and staying) organized is more important than ever for our mental and emotional well-being.

The KonMari Method

If you’ve never heard of Marie Kondo, also known as KonMari, she’s a Japanese organizing consultant, author, and TV show host whose “spark joy” approach to organizing and getting rid of clutter in your home started a revolution of sorts in favor of tidiness. Her goal is to transform homes into spaces of serenity and inspiration.

According to her site, “The KonMari Method encourages tidying by category – not by location – beginning with clothes, then moving on to books, papers, komono (miscellaneous items), and, finally, sentimental items.” Her message is for people to keep only those things that “speak to the heart, and discard items that no longer spark joy.”

The collections

The thoughtful designs of Kondo’s seven collections make it easy for DIY home organizers to tackle messes large and small in every space.

Kitchen

Kondo’s kitchen collection is elegant yet simple. Using ivory, black, and bamboo, she created a host of products that’s sure to spark joy every time you see them. The kitchen is the heart of the home, and you want that space to feel clean and inviting. Kondo certainly delivers here. Her Shoji Bamboo Pantry Bins  are a beautiful way to tidy items like napkins, spices, clips, and anything else that needs a home.

She’s also considered the one (or two) drawers in our kitchen that need the most help — the junk drawer. Her Diagonal In-Drawer Organizer  is a gorgeous and practical way to help divide items like pens, stamps, envelopes, and whatever else lives inside.

There are plenty of ceramic organizers for eggs , spices, baking items, and fridge items  that provide simple, eye-catching containers to store everyday mess away.

Home office

Kondo thought of everything when it comes to decluttering your home office. There are bamboo collators that can organize mail, paperwork, and important documents you don’t want to lose. She also created drawer organizers  that can come together as one piece or separate if you have an odd-sized drawer.

If your kid’s things inevitably end up in your office, Kondo has you covered; she created adorable pouches  that you can store artwork, cards, small toys, and anything else that finds its way into your space. There is something for every style in the home office collection that comes in bamboo, rattan, ceramic, and fabric, so it can match the aesthetic you’ve created.

Closet

No Marie Kondo collection would be complete without considering the closet space. The best-selling author has thought of everything when it comes to our closets like this stackable slated wood shelving perfect for shoe storage. There are small, medium , and large-sized box collections for storing items like ties, socks, undergarments, and jewelry.

Kondo also created a collection of hangers with certain items in mind so everything has a home. Her Metal Accessory Hanger is perfect for scarves, necklaces, and belts, and there are also hangers for sweaters , pants, dresses, and more that are non-slip and, as with all of her products, made from sustainable materials.

Starter sets

If you just don’t know where to start, Kondo has created “starter kits” for all of her collections. They are an investment (think over $400 for the closet kit), but they include all the items necessary to get you on your way to an organized, joyful space.

A collaboration for the ages

Your home should be a place where you come to relax and escape the chaos of the outside world. Kondo’s collection does just that by enabling you to organizes each space with clean, easy-to-find storage pieces for everything you own. And if you start the process of decluttering and find an item or piece of clothing doesn’t spark joy? Maybe it’s time to toss it.
