When redecorating your bedroom, bathroom, or hallway, you may find yourself struggling to turn your closet doors into a stylish piece in your design. Unfortunately, many closet doors appear cheap and lackluster, often becoming a visual disturbance in the space. Instead of letting your closet doors overrun your design, here are some amazing and stylish closet door ideas that are sure to help you spruce up your space.

Install antique barn doors

Everyone loves a good barn door home addition. If you’re looking for a way to spruce up your closet space, consider installing antique barn doors on a sliding rail. This is an excellent idea for small spaces because the sliding rail doesn’t require a few feet of space in front of the doors for them to swing open. Additionally, you can choose to keep the doors open for a framing effect around your closet entrance or close them for a decorative door look.

Furthermore, choosing antique doors instead of purchasing mass-market new builds can be a better option if you want to invite charm and character into your space.

Opt for French doors

French doors are a classic choice that is coming back in style. As homeowners seek more eclecticism and eccentricity, many are opting for installing French doors to divide the living room and dining room. However, French doors aren’t limited to communal spaces.

If you want to dress up your bedroom and add an elegant touch, opt for French doors on your closet. While this is best for bigger spaces, white French doors with glass panels and intricate woodwork can be a fantastic addition. Or, for a more modern look, choose simple French doors with rectangle panes.

Choose glass doors

Many homeowners who favor minimalist and modern aesthetics are adding glass doors to their homes. Glass doors and dividers have become a popular choice for bathroom showers, and to keep the flow of this design choice, many are adding glass doors to bathroom closets as well.

Glass doors can also be added to modern bedrooms to better open up the space and show off your best clothes. Just keep in mind that choosing a glass closet door will mean you’ll have to keep your items nice and tidy as you organize your storage space.

Remove the doors

A popular trick for opening up a small bedroom or creating more visual appeal is to remove the closet doors altogether. An open closet works best for closets with less depth that take up space horizontally. In a new-build home, this is often a better choice than the sliding folding doors that come with the house.

Just as you would with glass doors, removing your closet doors means you’ll have to keep your closet items organized. To best achieve a stylish aesthetic, you may want to invest in some good storage solutions.

Replace the doors with a curtain

Replacing closet doors with a curtain is a classic decorating method. Many people outside the U.S. and Europe use this method to create more flow and character in their homes. You can choose a curtain of any fabric and pattern to best suit your design.

If you want to take it a step further, consider framing your closet with two curtains and curtain hooks to fold back the fabric as needed. Beaded curtains, which were popular in the mid-century and early 2000s, are also making a comeback, offering many teens and kids a more personalized and exciting alternative to traditional closet doors.

Use mirrors and molding

If you want a more glamorous and luxe solution to your closet doors, consider buying custom doors with molding and mirrors. While mirrored doors are always an attractive option, choosing doors with fancy, detailed molding helps take this idea a step further.

You can purchase custom pieces or try your hand at a bit of DIY.

To do so:

  1. Purchase wood trim at the hardware store.
  2. Add your mirrors to the door prior to placing the trim to create the pattern you desire.
  3. Use a nail gun to staple the trim pieces into the wood door.
  4. Be sure to paint the door and trim in the same color for the best effect.

Go modern by “hiding” the doors

A clever solution for dealing with your closet doors is to hide them in plain sight. This works best in homes with built-in storage and wardrobes, particularly if your home doesn’t have an existing closet. However, it is entirely possible to pull this off in a room with a closet as well.

A couple of examples include:

  • Opt for a built-in wardrobe that spans across the wall. Then, ensure the doors are the same tone and texture as the built-in.
  • If you’re dressing up a wall using wood slats or another three-dimensional texture, carry that same material to the door so that the slats or other texture appear as one seamless wall.

Paint the doors the same color as your wall

While hiding your doors may not be feasible for your situation, particularly if you own an older home and want to preserve the crown molding or original wood door itself, you might consider painting the door instead. Painting the closet doors the same color as the wall and crown molding can create one seamless look across the wall. This method effectively “hides” the closet doors in plain sight and is a super trendy and modern tool for color-blocking and creating a seamless flow through your space.

Where Design Meets Desert: Blue Heron’s Vision for Las Vegas
Blazer, Clothing, Coat

As a third-generation Las Vegas native, I was thrilled to hear that during a recent visit to the city, part of our team had the opportunity to tour a newly completed, luxury desert home by Blue Heron. The home was stunning, far beyond expectations, with every detail thoughtfully and intentionally designed.

Las Vegas has always been a place of transformation and evolution. Founded in 1905 as a railroad stop and desert oasis, the city grew rapidly through the construction of the Hoover Dam, the legalization of gambling, and the post–World War II development that shaped the iconic Las Vegas that we know today. Over the last 125 years, it has evolved far beyond its origins to become a hub for design, innovation, and bold leadership.

My Christmas Centerpiece Method
Candle, Candlestick, Cutlery

Christmas is a few days away and I am getting the final touches ready to host my family. The meal is planned and the shopping list is written. All that’s left is to do is to set the table, prepare the food, and enjoy the holiday. But before that, I need to put together the centerpiece and table scape. My personal favorite kind of table scape has always been rooted in simplicity. At my own wedding, I locked horns with the florist, wedding planner, and even my own mother-in-law, because all I wanted were floating candles and bare, yet sparkly branches. I had the vision and they just needed to trust me. Almost ten years later, while my style has evolved, one thing has not changed: simplicity with a splash of shine always wins. I tend to lean this direction often. It’s classic and never feels overdone.

So, how am I decorating my table for Christmas this year? I follow the same principle every December, and the method is beautifully straightforward:

PANTONE 2026: Cloud dancer takes center stage
And Pantone's 2026 Color of the Year is...
Adult, Male, Man

Pantone has officially announced its Color of the Year for 2026, and the choice is as bold as it is unexpected. It is white. More specifically, Cloud Dancer (PANTONE 11-4201). At first glance, it’s definitely a move that might raise eyebrows. It has already received criticism for being “flavorless” and even “tone-deaf” in our current political climate, especially with the rollback of many DEI initiatives.

And, many of us grew up hearing that white isn’t even a color at all, but a canvas. An empty space waiting for something more. Technically, it’s the reflection of all visible colors, which only adds to the irony.
